We packed and prepared to fly to Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou Province in South West China. It was a three hour flight that was delayed almost 2 hours.



When we arrived in Guiyang, our guides took us to the People’s Park where there is a huge statue of Chairman Mao overlooking the park. This is our first day in China. We are part of a People to People delegation to meet with our counterparts in China. People to People was started by President Eisenhower in 1956 and is continued by his granddaughter, Julie Eisenhower. There are a number of delegations for all ages designed for ordinary citizens of the US and host countries to meet and discuss topics of mutual interest.

We have landed!



We awake the first morning in Beijing with the hustle and bustle of cars, bicycles and people rushing to work outside our window (see photo). We are close to the center of town on the second ring road (one of 7 super highways that ring the city). We found out that Beijing is 100 miles North to South and East and West with 17 million people.

Well after a wonderful thanks giving, I am here in San Francisco with Trudy. We SKYPEd her grandchildren in Australia and England. What cute kids all four of them. We went shopping, dinner and a movie Australia. Wow, that was a fantastic movie and the wonderful views of the northern part of the country. Oh, had my nails done and practiced my Chinese... YEA!
